Top 10 discussed ways to Reduce Bounce Rate Of A Blog Or Website

It's better late then never, maybe you might have ignored your analytics bounce rate for a long time but don't worry you can still work on it and get those high bars down. It's a normal problem faced by bloggers and website owners to get more than one page views from their visitors. This is something that no one has control over because you can't tell your visitors to visit all pages of your blogs but you can always guide them to visit another page on your blog.

Bounce Rate: the percentage of web site visitors who arrive at an entry page on your web site, then leave without visiting any other pages or leave without going any deeper into the site. Bounce rate is typically measured as a percentage. The lower the bounce rate that you have the better as this is an indicator of how users are engaging with your website.

In order to understand bounce rate, you must identify it within your site analytics. Google Analytics makes this easy by placing bounce rate as default item on your main analytics dashboard. This says something in itself, if Google has included bounce rate as a metric on the dashboard, they must think that bounce rate is a fairly important metric right? Well in fact it is a key metric when measuring user engagement on your site. A high bounce rate is a good indication that users are not finding the information that they are looking for and as a result are not proceeding any further.

What is a Good Bounce Rate Anyways?

Great question. We're glad you asked. As with many items in the world of SEO and organic search, the answer is it depends. Obviously a lower bounce rate is better, but bounce rate averages can vary by industry or type of site. Sites that are information portals will most likely have lower bounce rates than sites that feature limited content. The fact is that bounce rate is affected by the user's intent. That is, based on the user's query did they find the information that they were looking for? For example let's say you were looking for information about the TV program Las Vegas and you typed in "Las Vegas" in a search engine. You would no doubt receive a lot of Las Vegas (the city) related sites and potentially you might even be returned with a result that talks about the TV show albeit briefly. You might click through to some of these sites but unless the information that you were looking for about the show is present you would most likely revisit the search results page and/or re-enter a more specific search query. The bounce rate of the sites that you did click through would be affected as you were unable to find the information that you were looking for.

So to answer the question, what is a good bounce rate, generally speaking if you have a bounce rate that is in the 40-50% range that is not bad. If you manage to have an overall bounce rate that is in the 30-40% that is fantastic. As Avinash Kaushik states "a 35% bounce rate is very good..." We'll add that anything less is pretty spectacular. For the record, we've worked with clients and have helped them lower their bounce rates to less than 20% and in some cases to 7 or 8% which is quite exceptional.

So the question becomes, how do we lower bounce rate?

1.Use good quality, fresh content

Naturally, if you want visitors to stick around, your content should be worth reading and regularly updated. This also ensures that your content gets linked to from other sites, which will in turn increase your traffic.
It also helps to make your content easy to read. Learn the rules for writing good Web copy: Use short, single-topic paragraphs; condense content to bullet lists; highlight important phrases in bold; keep page lengths short.

2.Make sure the content is relevant

In order to engage visitors, your site's content needs to focus on the topic that those visitors are interested in.
  • Each page of your site, as well as the site overall, should be on-topic. For example, if your site is about dog breeding, don't have a page on the site that discusses horses.
  • Think about your site's overall objective, as well as your audience. Does all of your content help to achieve your site goals, and is it content that your audience want to see?
  • Use the Google Analytics Keywords report to see what people are searching for when they reach your site. Are you attracting a lot of traffic for keywords that have high bounce rates? Maybe it would be good to add some new content that gives visitors the information they are searching for.
  • Each page's title should match the content within the page. Don't use misleading page titles.

3.Use "related info" links

A great way to encourage visitors to read more than a single page of your site is to offer links to related information on the page.
For example, a product page might have a list of links to related products. Similarly, you could add a list of related articles or a "further reading" list at the end of an article page.

4.Use a professional, authoritative site design

First impressions count. When a visitor first lands on your site, the look of your site design can influence the visitor's decision to stay or leave. Generally speaking:
  • A professional, appropriate design lends an air of authority, inspiring confidence in the visitor and encouraging them to explore your site further.
  • An amateur or unattractive design can put people off and send them back to the search engines. It can also make your site harder to navigate, which means that visitors will spend less time exploring your site.
Of course, you may not be a professional designer, or you may not have the budget to hire one. However, there are some basic design rules — such as minimizing the number of colours and fonts in the page — that can have a big impact.

5.User-test your landing pages

Testing your site with real people can be a great way to find out the underlying causes of high bounce rates.
Show your key landing pages — particularly those with high bounce rates — to friends and colleagues. Ask them what attracts them on each page, and what turns them off. Are they inclined to buy your products or explore your site further? Or is there something about the page that discourages them from staying on your site?

6.A/B test your landing pages

As well as testing your landing pages with friends and colleagues, you can run A/B tests on your pages: Randomly serve 2 different versions of a landing page, and see which page results in more sales or other conversions. Google Website Optimizer can help automate this process.
As an alternative to A/B testing, you can make improvements to 1 landing page and measure how the bounce rate changes compared to other landing pages. For example, if bounce rates generally stay the same or increase over the course of a month, but your changed landing page shows a drop in bounce rate over the same period, then the chances are good that your changes reduced that page's bounce rate.

7.Use clear calls to action

If the purpose of a landing page is to encourage the visitor to take action — such as buying a product, signing up for a newsletter, or exploring your site further — make sure the call to action is obvious. The call to action is an element of the page — such as a button or a piece of text — that indicates what the visitor should do next.
For example, if your landing page needs to encourage people to buy an ebook then a large "Buy The Book Now" button would work well.
It's also a good idea to reduce page clutter. Remove unnecessary or distracting elements from the page so that the call to action stands out.

8.Use clear navigation

If you want visitors to engage with your site and explore it more deeply, make sure your site navigation menu is easy to find and easy to understand.
  • Place the menu in an obvious place, such as near the top of the page.
  • Use clear, simple words for your navigation options. Don't use jargon.
  • Try not to have too many main nav links. A maximum of 7 links is a good rule of thumb.

9. Build targeted traffic:

Work on getting more targeted traffic to your website. The only way to do is to start optimizing your website for search engines. I know it's a very time consuming task but it pays you in long term. Make sure you have corrected all the above mentioned points to start working on SEO for your website. If you somehow get high bounce rate from search engine traffic then shame on you and start over again on these tips and this time don't hurry.

10.Surprise element:

In your post content try surprising your visitors by offering them some new information but remember that must be related to the content of that post and the surprise should be pleasant of course, don't piss them off deceiving them. This will build an excitement in your readers and he would be interested to see what he is to get more in your other blog posts.

Now take a look at your own site's bounce rate and see if you can lower it. By reducing your site's bounce rate, you're increasing visitor interaction on your site. This usually means happier visitors and a more successful site. Have fun!

How To Get More Traffic To Your Blog

Today I’m continuing with answers to the questions presented to me by my customers and readers. And question we will work with today is equally important to the blogs of every size because it deals with most important aspect that determines blog success – Targeted Traffic!
more-traffic-to-blog1
In the image above you can actually see the less common variant of problem from a blogger who already gets decent amount of visitors and simply need to expand and continue with the growth. Overcoming traffic plateau is EXTREMELY important as each and everyone of us will have to deal with it, at one point or another…

How To Overcome Traffic Plateau And Get More Targeted Traffic?

First I want to say – Congratulations!
If you are facing same “problem” as a customer who submitted question above – you have managed to achieve already more then many blogs ever will. 1800 unique visitors per day is nothing to sneeze on and quite an accomplishment! In fact in some niches it might be close to maximum of what you will see, unless you start taking more direction actions…
increase-targeted-traffic

Step 1 – Evaluate Where Most Of Your Current Traffic Coming From

This will be the most important step as we need to know exactly What Works for you right now! And in order to get this done – we need some form of Stats Tracking implemented that provides us with fairly detailed information.
I personally prefer and teach my Expert WordPress customers how to integrate Google Analytics, as it is free, easy to add to your blog (just insert their javascript before the closing tag in footer.php) and provides decent level of stats.
If you haven’t been using Google Stats before – you need about a month worth of stats to get more or less accurate picture on where most of your visitors are coming from. Once you identify your traffic sources – move to step 2

Step 2 – Isolate 3 Traffic Sources And Identify What Promotion Associated With It

Time is precious and for us to increase amount of visitors coming to your blog we need to identify which of your promotional efforts or perhaps SEO strategies work right now and concentrate more effort on it.
Implement Rinse And Repeat Strategy!
If something is already working for your blog it only makes sense to do more of the same to get even more traffic. Couple examples could be:
  • Search Engines show up as major traffic source but when you look at what content brings most of the traffic you find that you have many posts deliver a bit of traffic each but combined create a large Volume!
Conclusion – Your SEO Efforts work and each post properly optimized for search engines delivers traffic even though only just a bit each post individually.
Action Plan – Do a long tale keyword research, write more posts optimized for ranking for long tale ranking.
  • eZineArticles.com shows as one of the biggest Direct Referrals.
Conclusion – your article marketing works as designed and article directory delivers you not only the traffic you need but also new loyal readers and blog subscribers.
Action Plan – Continue your article marketing efforts and simply increase number of articles you submit. If you simply double the number of submitted articles you should effectively double the number of new visitors from that source.
And same principal can be applied to ANY traffic source. All you have to do is Identify The Source, Associate Promotional Effort Responsible for it, Rinse and Repeat but increase intensity!
In my personal experience 80/20 rule applies perfectly to the traffic driving strategies – 20% of your efforts will deliver 80% of your traffic and in this portion I simply ask that you identify what 20% of your Traffic Driving Effort produce results, cut out the other 80% and then…
Double Your “Proven To Work” Efforts – Double Your Traffic!
Now you still left about 60% of promotional efforts left unused after you cut out what is not working and doubling what does. So lets put this effort into…

Step 3 – Finding New Sources

While strategy above should help you overcome the traffic plateau and effectively get a lot more of visitors, it is based on idea of simply taking advantage of what already works and ignoring the fact that these sources might have their own limits.
Reality is – if you don’t branch out and continue to search for new sources of traffic – you will eventually hit the plateau again. Unique Visitors number might be a lot higher but problem will still be same – luck of growth.
You simply must continue to grow, don’t settle on any single strategy and when you find one that works – add it to your 20% of the “working efforts” and continue to search for new ones. This will obviously be different for each blogger as it will be determined but what you currently do that works. Here are some of the more common:
  • SEO
  • Article Marketing
  • Social Marketing
  • Forum Marketing
  • Video Marketing
  • Blog Marketing
  • Link building
  • Your own strategy here…
You get the point!
And here is what I have found other bloggers say about Traffic Plateau and How to Overcome It:
  • Darren Rowse in 6 Reasons Your Blog Traffic Might Be Declining [And What to Do About It] stated: “While we all want to see our traffic rise the reality is that every blog has days, weeks and even months where traffic levels out or even decreases. This can be quite distressing for bloggers who have big hopes and dreams for their blogs.”
  • Tibi Puiu in Get Your Blog Moving: Break The Plateau! writes – “And just like life a blog will pass through several stages of existence from birth, to its moment of climax, to its inevitable death. During its lifetime, if it’s long enough of course, a blog will fluctuate numerous times on up-down scales and ever so often you’ll find that for a limited time it doesn’t go up, nor does it go down, but just stagnates. This is called a plateau.”
  • Daniel Scocco in 4 Steps to Increase Your Blog Traffic shares – “Just make sure to execute the 4 steps as planned and to spend the two hours and a half every day (obviously if you have more time available you can expand the time spent on each of the four steps proportionally)”

Seo Guidelines For Web Content Writers

Content writing is of utmost importance for those who are involved in online marketing businesses. Many companies, now days, offer content writing services. They cater to a varied class of businesses. Webmasters and marketing professionals who are related to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) mostly use these.

SEO is a method to reach out to a larger number of clients using search engines for marketing a website. SEO content can help clients achieve higher search engine rankings.

But there is a difference between regular content writing and SEO content writing. The difference is how you define your writing, and what you need to attain as a professional online copywriter or content writer. All the website owners want higher search engine rankings to increase their visibility on the first result page so that they get more targeted search engine traffic and they know their content can help them achieve that. So they opt for SEO content that can help them improve their search engine rankings. To stand out amongst your competition require SEO content writers. The text below will lay down SEO guidelines for web content writers.

1. Stress On Focused Pages
Search engines prefer focused pages, especially talking about a particular topic or phrase. So, do not try to cover everything under the aegis of a single page. Create pages focusing specific topics. It also provides satisfaction to people who are fussy about keyword density.

2. Page Title

It is the most important part of any webpage. It must appeal to the search engines and attract them towards your page. It must present to the search engines the most compelling reason to blog post it. Preferably, use the entire phrase you are targeting, in the title.

3. Systematize Your Content

Organize your content using right tags wherever required. Search engines specifically look for the right words at particular locations. They look for the keyword you have placed in your entire content.

4. Keyword Density

Keyword density is calculated by (keywords/ total keywords)* 100. Keyword density should range between 2-5%. Use the keywords wherever they fit in appropriately.

5. Fresh Content

Content you post on your web site should be fresh as well as informative so that they do not find your content repetitive and boring. At the same time, it should be meaningful and knowledgeable which is the basic purpose of your content, i.e., to reveal information. Create content which is understandable by the readers as well as search engines.

6. Link Baiting

Topics, which are link baiting, should receive special attention.

7. Number Of Words

Number of words should exceed 400 words. This will ensure that all the aspects are clearly and nicely defined.
Let me know if you want to add something more to this list of guidelines for content writers.

101 Ways to Promote a New Blog

Promoting a new blog can be quite daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. As you might expect, breaking down blog promotion into small, actionable tasks eliminates the mental road block you’ve probably experienced when trying to wrap you head around how to get people’s attention. You don’t have to do everything in this list, and some items will have a greater effect then others, but every tactic will at least drive some traffic, and any traffic is better than no traffic.

Content
1. Write a list of over 100+ resources or ideas.
2. Write the definitive guide to something. Spend time making this awesome.
3. Release a manifesto.
4. Release 2 manifestos.
5. Interview cool people. People like talking about cool people.
6. After your articles are indexed in search engines, break them up into smaller articles and submit them to ezinearticles.com (and other article directories).
7. Or just pay someone to submit the articles for you.
8. Write a list of all the cool blogs and people in your niche.
9. Check out the most popular content on high trafficked blogs. Create similar content but applied to your own niche.
Facebook
10. Start a page.
11. Make that page awesome.
12. Start a group.
13. Make that group awesome.
14. Create a Facebook app for your blog.
Fundamentals
15. Wait. After you’ve taken action it can take a short while for traffic to arrive.
16. Be patient. Some bloggers may seem like overnight successes, but if you look back in their archives, they’ve been creating content for a long time.
17. Motivate yourself.
18. Read The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing.
19. Have an interesting story and overall purpose.
20. Embrace the Law of Reciprocity. Everything you give will come back exponentially.
21. Make blogging easier.
22. Take action every day. Just get one important thing done every day and eventually you’ll start getting traffic. The more you do each day the faster your blog gets traction.
23. Find people with blogs at a similar level to yours and help each other out.
24. Turn off your computer, do some cool stuff, turn on your computer again and blog about it.
25. Understand the importance of context.
26. Be consistent. You don’t need to blog every day but try to stick to at least some sort of schedule.
27. Make it a numbers game. Decide upon a definite plan of action (eg. 20 blog comments per day, 1 guest post per week etc) and stick with that.
Online Video
28. Create videos and distribute them through tubemogul.com
29. Or for wider video distribution trafficgeyser.com may work for you (expensive though).
30. Respond to YouTube videos with your content.
31. Include your full blog address at the TOP of your video descriptions.
32. Take your time with devising video titles and tags.
33. Convert your video to multiple formats, with slight editing changes, and upload it to video sites multiple times, targeting different keywords. The content remains the same but you can test what videos and titles work the best.
34. Buy the accounts of popular YouTubers and then add your blog address to the descriptions of their videos.
35. Start the first live show in your niche (Ustream, Justin.tv and LiveStream are popular choices). Make sure you record the shows too so they can be distributed as a podcast later on.
Other Blogs
36. Be the first commenter on the posts of popular blogs. But still provide value.
37. If you can’t be the first then comment anyway. But try to be the first.
38. Stumble and Digg cool blog posts you find and let the blogger know via a comment. If you have something worthy on your blog, they’ll probably reciprocate.
39. Use google.com/blogsearch to find fresh blog posts and then leave intelligent comments.
40. Link to blogs of a similar size. They’ll notice and then good stuff may happen.
41. Write a guest post for a large blog. You may not always get published, but when you do the traffic spike will be significant.
42. Write a guest post for a small blog. You’re more likely to get published and build relationships with the next wave of A-List bloggers.
43. Write some more guest posts. Can’t hurt, that’s for sure.
44. Join a blog network.
Paid
45. Start a StumbleUpon Ads campaign.

93. Send @replies to relevant, popular and interesting people.
94. Tweet links to your content at multiple times during the day.

Powerful Ways To Make Money With Your Blog

Every single day over 8,000 people start a new Internet business and it is said 90% of them fail / never really take off! There are a lot of reasons why a business fails but in the end it comes down to one main thing – it isn’t making money!
It doesn’t matter if you get 100,000 visitors a day, if you can’t monetize your site, then you will lose money and fail like most other people. Most Internet Marketers suggest you put up adverts on your site to make money. OK, that appears an easy option, but if you don’t have much traffic you will fail to sell the advertising and frankly in my experience there are many better ways to make money.
So today I have decided to go through some of my own sites and also some my favorite bookmarks and show you how and why some sites (even with the same traffic) make a lot more money than other sites in their niche. And, I’m not just talking about an extra $1000 a month – in many cases it is significantly more.

Why Typical Blog Monetization Doesn’t Work

The main reason it doesn’t work is because you can only make so much. If you only have 8 advertising spots on your site, that will Net you a total of $600 at an average of $75 per spot. Truth is that in many cases unless you have significant traffic you will struggle to get even $75 per spot.
Now if you use some of the monetization techniques I will cover below, instead of making say $600 for the month you could make $3000 or even more! (I estimate you need around 20000 visitors per month in most niches to achieve this) Banner advertising to some degree isn’t scalable and therefore isn’t a good long term solution. That said, if you are ‘lazy” (as I sometimes am) then the one good thing about banner advertising is it’s guaranteed money most of the time, provided you can keep selling those spots!
But to give you some comparison, if I had decided to go with only offering banner advertising when I launched IncomeDiary, I would of been lucky to earn $300 from advertisers in the first month, instead of the $5000 that I did.

Selling eBooks

This is something that has been increasingly more popular over the last couple years for a bunch of reasons. The main reason obviously is money, selling an eBook to your readers is easier then selling someone else’s product because your readers know who you are, what your about and you should have a good track record for offering good content. One of the big benefits of launching an eBook on your blog is traffic. I have seen blog’s traffic saw once they launch an eBook because they set up an affiliate program, so even if they don’t buy your eBook, they still look around your blog and can make you money in other ways and the best thing, you don’t have to pay the affiliate for it.

How To Sell eBooks On Your Blog

On some levels, most blogs do the whole selling an eBook thing completely wrong. Having a eBook on your blog will mean a lot of leakage because they can go off in a million different directions such as check out your about page, past posts, advertisers etc. Typically sales page give you the option to either buy the eBook or leave the website which keeps the buyer more concentrated as they won’t get distracted by other things on your blog. Here are a few rules I would encourage you to abide by:
  • Have an affiliate program (via E-Junkie)
  • Offer Testimonials from people who have read your eBook. Including names, website URL’s, country and picture will help reinforce the fact that these are real people giving real opinions on your eBook.
  • Offer a sample page or chapter so potential buyers can get a good feel for who you are and what you have to offer.
  • Have a eCover to symbolize some physical value to the product. I recommend either Minisite Studios or searching for someone on Digital Point webmaster forums.

Membership Websites

I have seen a lot of blog adding membership areas to their blogs recently, probably because of the demand for even better content and the fact that it’s so easy to set up. Think about it, would you be happy paying $10 a month (or even $100) to have access to content that will change your life or business in some way, of course you would! The real benefit of having a membership website over a eBook is that with a membership website, you don’t just bill them once but you bill them every month. Let me show you the maths then you will get really excited:
Option 1: Sell 1 eBook a day at $40, that will be $1200. Now say you do the same next month, you will make $1200 this month as well. Say you do this for a whole year, you will make $14,600!
Option 2: Sell 1 Membership Website a day for $40, that will be $1200. Now say you do the same next month, you will bring in $1200 of additional membership but you will also have the recurring revenue from last month, making it $2400 that month. Say you do this for a whole year, you will make $105,600! I will leave you to pick which one sounds best to you.
One small thing I should note about my maths above, some people will obviously cancel there membership, the amount of people who cancel depends on the value you provide them. For those who have already went with Option 1, don’t worry, here is what I would do; take your eBook that you are selling for $40 and charge $1 for it, you will now probably sell 20 or 30 copies a day instead of one. Now when they order, add them to a membership program for $39 a month and give them the first 30 days to try it for FREE. This approach will get a lot more people buying and convert more people into staying for your recurring program. For those of you think this is to much work, you could simple change your eBook into a membership program by time releasing the content.
I always find inspiration the best way to start something new on my site, so here are my favourite membership websites that have been added to blogs.
If you would like to know more about recurring revenue and building membership websites, check out the great interview I did with Ryan Lee! He also has just released the videos and audios from his continuity seminar earlier in the year, I went to it and it honestly made a big difference to my online business and I don’t even have my own continuity program (YET!)

How To Add A Membership Website To Your Blog

From my research and recommendations from a lot of friends, there are 2 main ways to go about setting up your own membership website for wordpress. Them being:
  1. Wishlist Member – Very customizable plugin with lots of features to make your membership website stand out from the crowd! (My personal recommendation)
  2. aMember with Wordpress Plugin – Gives a simple yet effective membership area allowing users to download and see files easily.

FREE eBooks and eCourses

As I mentioned in a past post, building your list is one of the most important things to do and the best way to attract people to sign up for your list is to offer them something for FREE! Now the benefit of having a good mailing list is, so that you can email out about new content and promotions which could make you more money. I know some people that have such great lists, that when they email out promoting a new online course, they can bring in as much as $300,000! Not bad for writing a few emails. Now this is great but sending emails can become a bit of a pain and some readers will be turned off by them. What I have done is built a really strong eCourse and eBooks sharing lots of great secrets, tips and tools on how I make money online and then monetized it with affiliate links. Now this took me around 2 days to write (partly because I’m dyslexic and writing isn’t my forty) but since then it’s made me tens of thousands of dollars with no additional effort. My advise to you is to create a eBook or course that you could sell and then give it away for free and make your money through affiliate commissions. Remember to check out my past post on making money with email marketing to make sure you approach it using my no leakage rule.

Adding an eBook/Course to your Website:

Adding your eBook to your website can be done in a variety of ways, personally I recommend my funnel system to work the best. This is how it works:
  • Offer a sign up on your blog for a FREE eBook. I highly recommend using Aweber for your auto-responder as it’s what I use and most other Internet marketers. The best way to draw attract to your opt-in box is by placing a eCover of your eBook, this also gives it some physical value.
  • Once they sign up for your eBook or Course, send them to a thank you page where you promote a few of your best selling affiliate programs. Also give them a personal thank you and remind them to check there emails and confirm that they want to be on the list.
  • Now automatically dispatch an email using your auto-responder with your first email from your eCourse or a link to your eBook.
  • Now build in several follow up emails promoting content on your blog and affiliate offers.

Web Directories

This method isn’t so common but looking from the examples I could find online, it is one of the most profitable! FreelanceSwitch has one of my favorite examples of a web directory, how it works is web designers who need work can pay monthly to have themselves listed in there web designers directory so people who are looking for web designers, can browse the directory and pick there favorite. What’s great about this approach is they have made the deal even better for web designers, they have included access to the website job board, where they can apply for jobs that are posted which has allowed them to make it free for people to submit jobs.

How To Add A Web Directory To Your Blog

Although there are dozens of free web directory plugins for Wordpress, not many let you charge people to submit links to them. The first directory I created was for WebDesignDev which was a directory of all the resources web designers and developers would need such as hosting, scripts, domains, coding etc. I allowed people to submit for free but gave a premium option which for a price they would be posted at the top of the directory with a special border and made to stand out from the crowd. The software I used was PHPLinkDirectory which seems to be bringing out more and more Wordpress friendly additions to it’s software and would be my pick for anyone trying to achieve a successful directory.

Job Board

The great thing about offering a job board is that it’s offering a needed service to your users. Take for example you are visiting a web design blog because you wanted someone to design your blog. Now this blog has a job board and it was free for you submit a job, that’s a great additional service the blog is providing. But where is the money you are probably asking, what you do is you charge the designers who are looking to do the work, possibly a $50 monthly charge to reply to any design jobs. For any designer looking for work, this is a no brainer because these are the best leads you can get, people who are saying they want to give you work. This really is a no brainer and something I really am thinking about adding to IncomeDiary as it will solve the problem of people looking to hire people and the problem that WebDesignDev is over flowing with web designers looking for work.

How To Add A Job Board To Your Blog

There are two main Wordpress plugins that will allow you to add a Job Board to your blog, those being WPJobBoard and JobPress. Pricing strategy is most important here, either deciding to charge people to post job or to reply to jobs. Personally I think charging people to post jobs works best because then you can focus on getting people to respond to work, which will be easier when its FREE for them although it seems it seems to be a mixed opinion between bloggers on which way is best to charge.

Done For You

Done for you is something new I’m working on but have seen some really great examples of some very clever Internet entrepreneurs using it. “Done For You” is basically a service you offer on your blog that is all done for you, one great example is Done For You Meal Plans, something that I have seen very popular in the fitness niche. So if you want to lose weight you need to create a meal plan but the problem is, you got to spend days researching to make sure you get it right and then put it together. Instead fitness marketers put together the plan for you at a price. Now a lot of the time they can use the same plan for a lot of people so the work is minimal or they could even outsource it to someone else for the fraction of the price.

How To Add A Done For You Section To Your Blog

This is one of easiest things to do, find a problem, supply the solution, bill them! All you need to do now is create a page on your blog with your offer, add a PayPal link to purchase and then outsource the work at a very small fraction of the price paid.

Affiliate Marketing

All of IncomeDiary’s income comes from affiliate commissions and I’m getting quite good at it, this has actually be my best month ever online by far! Now the best advise I could give you is testing, work as hard as you can to test everything possible. So IncomeDiary has been online for around 6 months and I have a lot of really popular content driving good traffic to affiliate offers but I knew I could do better so what I did was I used Google Analytics to find out which pages got the most visits and then used CrazyEgg to see what parts of a post are seen more and which links they clicked.  To a surprise, my most popular page in two days had no clicks on my affiliate links so what I did was included a green stop sign (something tested by Internet marketers) and I added it to the paragraph with my links. Over night I got a few clicks, although it wasn’t many, comparing it to zero, it meant a big difference.

How To Monetize Your Blog Using Affiliate Marketing

A couple tips that I really recommend you take advantage of when doing affiliate marketing are, ask for a better commission rate and also ask for a coupon code to give your readers a discount. Doing these two things will greatly increase your success at making money online with affiliate marketing because you will be able to convert more readers with a coupon code and with a higher payout then other affiliates, you will be able to invest more to get more conversions. The most important thing is how you display your affiliate links, there are a few different ways to offer affiliate links on your website, the ones I suggest are:
  • Comparison charts, this way you make the reader choose which one is the best choice. This works really well because you give them all the options and which ever one they take, you collect a commission on.
  • Recommendations, this converts better for me because the reader gets to see you using the product in action and so know you are not promoting it just to make money but because it actually works!
Simply linking to an affiliate link and hoping people will buy it isn’t enough!

3 Simple Ways To Get Targeted Visitors To Your Website That Will Buy Today

Have you got a website without a steady stream of targeted visitors?
Even the best looking website will fail without targeted visitors. While website design is important, a poorly designed website can still do well if it gets a large amount of targeted visitors.
In the industry, visitors to your website is known as traffic. Traffic is the absolute life blood of your website. You can have the best looking website, great conversion techniques and an awesome product, but without traffic you will make no sales.
There are many different types of traffic and it is also important to get targeted visitors. Targeted visitors are the visitors who are looking for the product you provide, or information on the product you provide.
So, how do you get that targeted traffic?
Paid Traffic - PPC (pay-per-click) or PPV (pay-per-view)
The quickest and easiest way is to go and buy targeted traffic. There are many pay-per-click or pay-per-view services, where you can create a text or image advert and have it shown across the internet.
These services will display your advert when people are searching for the information or product you supply. Sometimes your advert can even be displayed on a competitors website.
The pay-per-click system is when your advert is displayed for free and you only pay when someone clicks on the advert to go to your website.
The pay-per-view system is when you pay for your advert to be displayed a certain amount of times.
I use this paid traffic model when I am testing the conversions on a website. I can get traffic to the website within 15 minutes and get great data with a $50.00 budget. This data can be used to fine tune the website before I move onto the next traffic model.
Borrowed Traffic - Forum and Blog Commenting
This traffic model is free, but costs you in the time required. If you have more time than money, then this strategy will suit you better.
The easiest way to do this is to set up a Google Alert on the information or product you are offering. Google will then send you an email a day with a list of blogs, forums or websites where there has been an update based on the alert you set up.

You can then go directly to that blog, forum or website, read the content and comment. In the comments section of a blog there is usually an area below your name and email to insert your website address. This means when your comment is approved your name will be clickable and anyone clicking on your name will arrive at your website.
A well written comment can establish you as an authority on the subject and motivate people on that site to click to go to your site.
Forums usually allow you to put at least one clickable link in your signature. This means every time you post to that forum your signature will appear below your posts. Forum signatures can be crafted with a call to action which will encourage more clicks.
Authority Traffic - Guest Writing
From your Google Alerts you will notice some blogs will keep coming up. This is because these blogs are popular and their visitors are leaving comments.
However, blog owners need help from time to time with new content. And, if you contact them by using the contact link on the blog and offer to guest write for them, you will usually be gladly accepted. That is provided you know your stuff and can add value to their readers.
This is a win-win situation because the owner gets new information on his site and you get to put a blurb at the bottom saying this article was written by you from yourdomain.com.
If the article is good people will click your link to see what else you have to offer. This is a great strategy and very quick to implement.
That gives you 3 simple ways to get targeted visitors to your website that will buy, today!
Implement them and be consistent with your actions. It may be slow in the beginning, but once you gain momentum you will never look back.

7 Blog Promotion Strategies That Work

I just finished looking at my stats and thought I would show you where my traffic is coming from and what marketing tactic I used to get it.
Below are only the things that produced visitors to my site in the last 48 hours. Nothing theoretical whatsoever.
1) Search Engines
Yesterday was my biggest day yet with this new site platform and the performance is unlike anything I have ever experienced before.
I had more search engine traffic from more phrases in one 48 hour period than ever.
From very nice short tail keywords like “video syndication” to fat long tail phrases like “how to get more friends on myspace.”
And everything in between.
How do I do so well in the engines?
I use the very best publishing system on Planet Earth. Nuff said.
2) Article Syndication
LOL – right? Wrong. Article syndication is still a very powerful traffic driver if you do it properly.
Rather than try to be on every article directory on the web, I go for the most important article directories on the web.
I also write the best content I can on highly relevant, topical, hot issues in my niche.
I do not wirte and syndicate articles for links. I write for traffic. Huge difference most people completely ignore.
I syndicated this article over the weekend and am getting traffic from the following article sites:
I will get traffic from many others, but I am only showing you today what happened to drive real targeted traffic in the last 24 hours. (People don’t do this anywhere else that I know of by the way!)
I syndicate my articles exclusively with SubmitYourArticle.com.
3) News Readers
Because I have several feeds to choose from, and a wide range of related topics I publish on, I have feed subscribers on all kinds of readers.
In the last 24 hours I have gotten traffic from people using feed readers from:
  • Yahoo
  • Google
  • Bloglines
  • Delicious, and
  • different versions of desktop readers like MyWebTop.com.
4) Links
I’ve gotten significant traffic in the last 48 hours from sites such as:
and many many others.
These are link partnerships or just people pointing to specific posts here and commenting on their blogs.
The better your content, the more people comment and trackback your site. So good content equals good link traffic.
5) TrafficSwarm
I get a good amount of traffic each day from TrafficSwarm, which is no new kid on the block.
I have tested the traffic from this service and opt-in rates are good, meaning the traffic isn’t junk traffic, if you were wondering.
They have a free and paid version. Don’t bother with it on the free level. It is extremely inexpensive traffic compared to Adwords and Co-registration, and there are other benefits of membership aside from direct traffic and subscribers.
6) Video Syndication
I have been doing screen capture blog marketing videos lately and syndicating them on all the free video sharing sites available.
Since I started (I have only done 4 so far) I can attribute top 10 rankings in Google for terms like “blog marketing videos” and many others to this marketing tactic alone.
Since video sharing sites are all popular (none of the sites I syndicate videos to are under PR5, most PR6 or higher) the links are worth a lot and the traffic is great each time I submit a video.
Video syndication will be one of the buzz phrases of 2007. Glad I am in the top 10 for that phrase too!
7) Tagging and Pinging
Or simply posting properly and showing up automatically (and practically instantly) in places like Technorati which track blogs, is a big daily traffic driver.
Right after I post this I will see traffic from Technorati and other sites that I ping.
Kind of encourages me to post regularly knowing every post brings me more traffic and another chance to score in the engines for more keywords.
If you don’t know how this is all done, the best information available on the subject is from Sean Wu.
Again, the above tactics all resulted in real, live, free targeted traffic to the Friday Traffic Report in the last 48 hours.
Thought you’d like to see what is working based on my actual log files rather than more theoretical pieces from people who don’t necessarily use the tactics they push to drive traffic to their own sites.

5 Things To Consider While Analyzing Your Competitors

You cannot make your competitors disappear. Yet, you can fight potential customers from them by analyzing their websites and taking relevant actions. Whether you analyze your competitors manually or with a competitive analysis tool, you should consider the following data:
  1. First of all, pay attention to the Page Rank. It is obvious that you have to look it up. Google ranks websites relying on their PR, as well as some other factors, of course. Therefore, competitor’s PR is one of the most crucial details you must consider while analyzing your niche competition.
To check the PR of any website, either install Google Taskbar (it’s free and easily downloaded from the official site) or use any competitive analysis tool available in the Internet.
  2. Second the most important thing in analyzing your competitors is a number of their backward links. And it is widely known, the more backward links you have, the higher position you get in SERP.
  3. You shouldn’t forget about analyzing competitors’ backward links quality either. If the backward links are from authoritative websites with high PR, you should make great efforts to beat your competitors.
  4. Never forget to check whether the needed keywords are present in the URLs and meta titles of your competitors’ sites. What is important for Google must be important for you as well.
  5. Analyze competitor’s traffic details to identify his marketing strategies. There are several ways of gathering traffic approximations that your competitors get:
    • Alexa, Compete, or Netcraft are free and can be used both by amateur or professional webmaster.
    • Hitwise and ComScore are paid services and provide more comprehensive traffic information.
It is important to keep tabs of what your competitors are doing, but do not dwell too much on their traffic: think more on what you are doing with yours.
Tip: There are many ways how to gather the data mentioned above, the only rule of thumb is to do it in the most cost and time effective way. Competitive Analysis Tool designed by EasySeoTracking meets these requirements. It is a FREE powerful online service to analyze a necessary niche in the market.
This Competitive Analysis Tool delivers the following SEO parameters: Page Rank, number of backward web links, presence of keywords in a URL and title, number of unique visitors, analyzes competitors’ backward links. Give it a try and make sure analyzing a niche has never been so easy.
